Every once in a while a leather shows up that immediately stands apart from the rest. This Wesco Jobmaster® build is one of those boots.
Built with Tan Latigo leather from Wickett & Craig Tannery, this batch is especially unique. The hides came through exceptionally rich with oils, giving the leather a deep glow, visible pull-up, and incredible character right out of the box. No two pairs look exactly alike — each one carries its own tone, grain pattern, and oil distribution.
Over time and wear, the oils will settle and distribute throughout the leather, gradually revealing a slightly lighter tone while building the kind of natural patina that only true vegetable tanned leather can develop.
The Leather – Wickett & Craig Tan Latigo
Wickett & Craig is one of the oldest vegetable tanneries in the United States, operating in Curwensville, Pennsylvania since 1867. They specialize exclusively in traditional vegetable tanning, a slower and more labor-intensive process that produces leather known for its durability, structure, and unmatched aging characteristics.
Their Latigo leather combines the strength of traditional harness leather with added oils and waxes, resulting in a hide that is:
